'1298' Kerala rescued people in Sabarimala Stampede

On the night of 14 Jan 2011, the 1298 Kerala team received the tragic news of 104 people killed and more than 50 people injured in the Sabarimala Stampede. Our Control Room immediately dispatched the team comprising of Mathew Abhraham (Driver), Joseph Mathew (EMT) and Baiju Thomas (Male nurse) to the location. Our team was the first Emergency Service to reach and respond to the situation.



Later we deployed 2 more Advanced Lifesupport Ambulances due to the criticality and sensitivity of the situation. With the support and proactive work by 108 Kerala team we were successful in rescuing and transferring more than 16 critically injured people to the nearby hospital. Our efforts were greatly appreciated by the local civil authorities.
