Give Way to Ambulance

With the increasing traffic on the roads, Ambulances have a tough task in taking the patients to hospitals on time. The reasons can vary from no lane system on a busy urban road, the traffic being jam packed in either direction to non-existence of Sidewalks/service streets or being heavily encroached. Frequent rallies being conducted also do not help the cause.
Though in some cities, drives are conducted by traffic police and citizens alike, to make people aware about the gravity of the situation; much is left to be desired when it comes to saving a life.
And this is here where we as individuals can do our bit. We in India care equally about people than in any other nation, all it requires is a little awareness on our part.

Following are some tips that can go a long way in giving way to Ambulances & saving Lives

  • Slow Down – It goes without saying that whenever we spot an  Ambulance we let them pass without any hurdle, it’s our duty than a rule
  • Drive responsibly– Traffic congestion generally happens when we try to wriggle out generally ending up blocking others path.
  •  Follow Lane System – It might set you back by 5 minutes in reaching your destination but its goes a long way in maintaining a clear path.
  • Be Responsible – Whenever you spot an Ambulance stuck in the traffic behind you, just inform the policeman in charge to help clearing its way. A small gesture can go a long way.
  •  Be Sensible – A small scratch on the car is not worth in endangering a life. Take your vehicle to the side of the road to sort out issues with irresponsible drivers than creating traffic congestions
  •  Carpool – Lastly, carpool. The benefits go way beyond  with reduction in pollution, decongested road, healthy environment & social interactions being some of them

Remember, Driving is a privilege not a right, your responsible action can save a life.
